MissionPendleton's Back-to-School Fair is a community-wide fundraising event to raise money to buy backpacks and school supplies for children participating in the free and reduced lunch program in the South Madison School Corporation. History
Pendleton held it's first annual Back-to-School Fair in August 2003. The Back-to-School
Fair, started by Pendleton Christian Church as an outreach to demonstrate God's
love, has grown into a community-wide charitable event uniting all the churches,
businesses, clubs, schools and people in South Madison County. To ensure fun for everyone, the majority of the games and events are free. Fair participants are encouraged to donate in "Caring Cans" placed throughout the Fair. Through advance donations from area businesses and clubs and money raise the day of the Fair, the Fair raised over $16,000 in 2003 with that amount increasing to almost $20,000 in 2004!!! The Fair was so successful that excess funds were used to start Outfitters, a nonprofit organization to provide free clothing to children in need in South Madison County. At the end of the day, fair volunteers and participants feel happy and content knowing they've done a little of God's work by loving and taking care of their neighbor. |
